Welcome September! Welcome back Summer!

Hello, Friends.

It's September and the weather has turned hot! September is thought to be a fall month, but Indiana likes a surprise: we get to enjoy seasons out of season. We will have a week of hot weather and then a couple days of fall. Gradually, we will have more fall weather with a surprise day of summer or winter days mixed in. Then we get snow...

Something important to know about showers in Indiana (like the one we experienced on Tuesday morning). We can have a cloudburst that is only a five minute downpour. Wait a few minutes, and it will blow over. And speaking of showers: be sure to join us September 15 to learn about the American custom of Baby Showers! And speaking of babies: join us as we read about the birth of John the Baptist and the birth of Jesus in the book of Luke at International Bible Study!

I love it when everything comes together!

International Bible Study, Tuesday September 8, 9:00-10:30
We read the story of Mary and the announcement by the angel Gabriel to her that she was going to have a baby (Jesus). Mary leaves to visit her relative Elizabeth and we read her song that describes her feeling about her becoming a mother (Luke 1:26-56). We read that she is at peace with the plans that God has for her. We learn that "nothing is impossible with God" (Luke 1:37) The beginning of Luke is full of the beginning of new families. Join us as we read the birth of John the Baptist and Zachariah's song (Luke1:57-80)

Have you ever been invited to a baby shower? This is a traditional practice in the United States that to celebrate the up-coming birth of a baby. We are lucky to have three friends due before 2016! They will be our shower "lucky victims" as we join together to learn about baby shower customs, gifts and games. Learn to make a "diaper cake" that can be a gift or a centerpiece.
