Good bye July!

Hello, Friends.

I hope you have had a great summer. July is winding up and August is just around the corner. Can you believe it?

Welcome back to the school year...almost. I was so surprised to see all of the pens and notebooks and more at Wal-Mart. Too soon! Too soon!

That being said, it is not too soon to be seeing all of you! I am looking forward to catching up with old Friends and meeting new Friends.

We are offering all of our favorite studies, meetings and classes. This year we are adding a few new things:

  • International Church Services on the second Saturday of each month: come and worship in English. These services are geared for people new to the English language (and new to Christian worship). You don't have to be Christian to attend (come and see). Childcare is available for small children. Everyone is welcome.
  • American Accent Training on Thursday mornings: come and learn how to tweek your accent to sound more like a native (Midwestern because that is the perfect broadcaster accent---and mine) American speaker (or to better understand what native speakers are saying). This is also a conversation class for practical work on your everyday listening and pronunciation. For students Level 3 and above.
  • American English Writing on Thursday mornings: Some of us learn best by seeing and doing. Writing class is a great way for your to organize your ideas and learn practical grammar. Practice specific conversation and discussion as you practice your writing. For Level 2 and above.

I am looking forward to seeing you at our usual meetings and I hope that you can take advantage of our new opportunities.

Regardless (what I mean by this is that if you have moved or have other important things to do---like tennis), I want to hear what you are up to. Message me on Facebook! Send an e-mail to indyintlfriends@gmail.com.

Here are dates for your calendars:

August 1: online registration opens. CLICK FOR THE FORM
August 13, 6:15-7:15p.m., the Haase Prayer Chapel: Join me for International Church services.
August 25, 9:30: staff meeting, watch for the e-mail, staff.
August 30, 9:00-10:30, room 100: Our first International Bible Study: Join us as we choose our book to read for the year.
August 30, 10:30-12:00, room 100: Our first International Friends meeting. Come for friendship, fun and food...we will share our summer fun and set our calendar activities. Bring ideas!
September 1, 9:30-11:30, upstairs classrooms: English Class Registration: If you are new to our program come for screening. Need help with on-line registration? Come on in! If you are a returning student, come to say "hi." This is when you can pay for your classes.
September 8, 9:30-11:30, upstairs classrooms: English classes begin.

Be sure to check out our schedule for International Friends and be thinking about what you would like to do for fun this year. Can you teach us something? Should we try a restaurant? Is there a movie you want to see (we still have to try doing this!)? Bring your ideas!

I am looking forward to this fall.

Love,
Carolyn
