Our first official classes and field trip of 2015/16 Year

Hello, Friends.

It was FANTASTIC to see everyone this week. I am so glad everyone is back and to welcome so many new faces. Be sure to read the special notes for English Classes this week.

International Bible Study
Tuesdays, 9:00-10:30, room 100
This past Tuesday we read about the birth of John, the son of Elizabeth and Zechariah. Elizabeth and Zechariah broke with tradition when they named their son John (we learned that Jewish people name their children after their family). Zechariah is able to speak after he confirms Elizabeth's statement that they should name the child John.

Tuesday, September 15: Let's read the Christmas Story! Luke 2:1-20
Come and read the story of the birth of Jesus: this is the true story of Christmas.

International Friends
Tuesdays, 10:30-12:00, room 100
We enjoyed our trip to Conner Prairie. It was a warm and sunny day, but there were winds that kept us from soaring in the balloon. We enjoyed apple cider slush at the apple store and tasted the best apple fritters on earth! Really!

Tuesday September 15: You are invited to a Baby Shower! What does that mean?
Baby Showers are a great excuse for a party and to celebrate a mother-to-be and shower her with gifts to help her prepare for her new arrival. Join us and learn about this very  important American tradition. We will throw a shower: learn to make a diaper cake, play the baby shower games, and eat delicious baby shower refreshments so you will know what to expect when you are invited to one of these types of parties. We have three mothers-to-be in our group to be our victims. Ladies, please be sure to come on Tuesday.

English Classes Special Announcement
For classes on September 16 and 17. The church is hosting a conference:

  • We are meeting in classrooms just past the stairwell on the first floor.
  • Bring your children with you, we will walk together to the nursery since there is a crowd.
  • Bring a folding chair (and a spare for a friend).
  • Please do not bring snacks to class this week since we are using the preschool rooms.

Casual Conversation
Wednesdays, 4:30-6:00
We will meet for the first time on September 16. We will meet in the downstairs classroom. Please follow the above directions.

English Classes
Thursdays, 9:30-12:00
We were so glad to welcome everyone to English classes this year. We have an amazing staff to help us learn and practice our English. You may not have your text book yet. That's ok. Your teacher is taking time to get to know you and has a good plan for your class.

We combined our conversation and accent class into one content class. Accent training is an important aspect of communication (if someone can't follow your accent it is difficult for them to understand you). Kathy is a speech therapist and is available to help you with your specific needs.
_______________
broke with tradition: did not follow tradition
soaring: flying effortlessly
mother-to-be: expectant or pregnant woman
