Hello Friends,

This week was a very fun, interesting and unusual week at International Friends. We broke the mold for our program. We had our first baby shower meeting. We met in preschool rooms in the middle of a conference. We had our first Wednesday conversation class of the year...

Fall is a great time for celebrating. Now that everyone is back in school, the fall festivals are beginning. Be sure to take advantage of the beautiful weather and all the festivals and fun. This Saturday is full of excitement. Next weekend will be equally fun! Be sure to visit our pages for a few ideas of events that are happening. I hope to see you out there!

International Bible Study
We read the Christmas story in the book of Luke and sang Christmas carols that tell the story. I don't think I have ever read this story out of season before. It was refreshing to revisit it at a different time of year. When we read it this week, it was a story to think about without all of the extra Christmas distractions (decorating, cooking, shopping, traveling, etc.) and preparations for a major holiday. There was an opportunity to reflect on the  story in a daily life situation.

September 22, 9:00-10:30, room 100: Let's read about Jesus' presentation in the temple. (Luke 2:21-39). In this story Jesus is presented formally to the temple. We will read about this custom and the official laws surrounding it as well as the spiritual reaction by the leaders in the temple.

International Friends
The baby shower was so much fun. I think it is one of the best I have ever been to. Thank you mothers-to-be for being such good sports. One thing we didn't have (that is always at these types of parties) was little cups of candies that are pink and/or blue Jordan Almonds or refreshing mints are always a popular choice.

September 22, 10:30-12:00, in the back parking lot of the church: Let's tailgate!
Don't put your chairs away. Let the parties continue! We will meet to celebrate football and the tradition of picnic in the parking lot before a game. Bring your lawn chair. Bring your game day snacks. Bring your beverage of choice. Show your spirit and wear your team gear! We will play corn hole and grill out!

English Classes
September 23, 4:30-6:00
September 24, 9:30-12:00
Thank you so much for your patience and flexibility this past week during the conference. The church staff though I was just kidding when I told them that we would be bringing our own chairs. We are back to normal for our classes next week. We will meet back in the upstairs classrooms.
