Scam Calls
One of our Friends was a victim of a spam call. She wanted to share her experience with you so you can be wary and avoid hassle and heartache.
After my vacation, I had a rough time because of a scam call. I usually check suspicious phone numbers, but didn't this time. It looked like a real voice recording, so I made a payment (gave my bank account numbers). Right after, I felt something was off. First of all, I Googled the number and it turned out that it was a scammed number. I locked the bank account using the banking app. I was feeling pretty nervous and irritable. I told my husband what had happened, and we went to the bank. We closed that account and opened a new account.
The Federal Trade Commission has a great article on identifying spam calls and what to do about them. Taking quick action and being suspicious of unknown calls, texts, or emails is important, but sometimes you can get tricked. The scammers are counting on this and have skills. There is no reason to feel embarrassed or ashamed. Just learn and act.
